This week, we got another practicum student in our class. She is from ODU and is obviously studying to be an elementary school teacher. When she came into the class, all of the students asked her whose mom she was and how long she was going to be in the class for. Allie (the practicum student) babysits one of the boys in our class, Aiden, and he asked if he could call her by her first name.
I have been noticing one of the girl's awful behavior lately and how she is trying to be manipulative to me and Mrs. Anderson. I was walking the class to lunch and she asked to hold my hand and if I could walk with her. Being the only teacher in the hallway, I told her that I had to make sure everyone in the hall was behaving and that I couldn't stay with her. I started to walk away and I heard a thud behind me. I turned around and saw Navaia laying on the floor behind me. I asked her what had happened and she said, "I don't know what happened. I just fell for no reason." I asked her if she tripped and she said she didn't and that she just wanted me to walk with her. I didn't know what to do so when I got back to the classroom, I asked Mrs. Anderson about it. She said that Navaia is a very controlling and manipulative child and that I can't give in to her, at all.
Other than that experience, the week was very good and the kids were very cooperative.
